Our goal is to help preserve culturally valuable audio content held in the collections of small to midsize institutions, organizations, and private collections. We provide digitization services as well as assessment, consultation, restoration, and maintenance of audio holdings on a range of at-risk analog and digital media formats.
Assessment & Consultation
Through careful evaluation of the scope and needs of a collection, as well as dialogue with our clients about their goals for reformatting, access, and long-term maintenance of assets, we work to develop a plan that achieves these goals with an eye to the long-term sustainability of the collection through future life cycles.
Digitization
We are equipped to reformat a wide range of media types to provide archival-quality digital preservation files, with appropriate metadata embedded. We give our attention to setup and monitoring of each transfer throughout the process.
Restoration
Working from an archival-quality transfer, we can treat files with varying levels of restoration, as tailored to your needs. This can mean basic EQ and Noise reduction, for an accessible copy of the audio that improves listenability while still preserving the honest condition and characteristics of the original sources, or more extensive reconstruction and remastering appropriate for commercial release. The core of our restoration services leans on the industry-standard RX software but is built on attention to creating the highest quality transfer to start.
Maintenance
The reformatting of analog collection items is not the endpoint in an object’s life cycle but a starting point. We not only track the integrity of the digital files we create throughout the process of a reformatting project, but can work with you to develop and facilitate a plan for the ongoing maintenance of your born-digital assets.
